New Year’s Sankalpa

Embracing the future’s potentiality through meditation, movement and reflection

Sunday, January 16, 2022

3 - 5pm PST / 6 - 8pm EST

Via Zoom

Potentiality is the “future’s capacity to become future, or the future as virtually in the present. … The future is still to be born, nurtured in the present but not yet seen or realized. Potentiality, then, is the immanent, not-yet-actualized capacities of things.”

--Rebecca Bryant and Daniel Knight

At the start of this new year, Inner Fields Sangha invites you to join us to set a sankalpa (Sanskrit: संकल्प), that is, an intention formed by the heart and mind – a sincere vow, determination, or will.  A sankalpa can be viewed as a heart-mind mantra that helps bring about a future that already is, or the “not-yet-actualized capacities of things.” Examples of sankalpas are:

Compassion is my true nature.

I belong and am loved.

I am healthy and whole.

I am free.

At our New Year’s Sankalpa, we will use guided meditation, embodied movement, and reflection to create and share a sankalpa that will nurture the future in the present.
