Asa-cha is a Japanese tea ceremony which gathers in the coolness of morning during hot summer days. This informal and intimate session will gather around the ritual, stillness and communion of Japanese and Chinese tea preparation and tasting, and will include a guided meditation, a contemplative reading, and original music compositions for tea ceremony written and performed by Kenji. Cold-brew tea infusions will be offered alongside traditionally-served warm teas, which cool the body's internal system during the heat of summer. Chinese teas will be served Gong Fu style. Breakfast snacks will be provided.

Kenji Herbert is a Japanese-Austrian guitarist and composer currently based in Brooklyn. Growing up with Japanese heritage immersed him in a daily practice of drinking and preparing tea, but recently he has been deepening his knowledge, collecting various teas throughout his travels and learning the rituals and traditions involved with preparing each of them. He describes these explorations as an "awakening", renewing his appreciation of this ancient and humble art form.

Inner Fields is located in a private studio in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. RSVP below to receive the address.
